At Hillcrest Hospice, we help individuals maintain control over their care decisions, ensure comfort through expert symptom management, and provide compassion to every person we serve. Whether helping patients reunite with loved ones, visit a cherished place, or simply rest at home with dignity, our team supports each individual’s unique path.
What We Provide
Hillcrest Hospice provides services wherever the patient resides—at home, in a retirement community, assisted living or long-term care facility. Our hospice team is available 24/7 to provide:
- Pain and symptom management
- Medication, medical equipment and supplies
- Skilled nursing visits and personal care
- Emotional, social and spiritual support
- Ongoing communication with family members and physicians
- Bereavement counseling and grief support up to 13 months
Each patient’s care plan is developed by our interdisciplinary team, which includes:
- Board-certified Medical Directors and primary care physicians
- Registered Nurses and Certified Hospice Aides
- Social Workers
- Spiritual Care Coordinators/Chaplains
- Bereavement Care Coordinators
- Trained Volunteers
Unique Programs That Make a Difference
At Hillcrest, we go beyond traditional hospice offerings with specialized services that provide added comfort and meaning:
- Continuous Care: The only known hospice in Nebraska and Iowa offering Medicare-approved 24-hour nursing support at home during medical crises.
- Care in Action: One-on-one nurse visits for up to four hours daily during the final days of life.
- No One Dies Alone: Trained staff or volunteers remain present during the final hours when family cannot be there.
- “We Honor Veterans” Program: Hillcrest is a proud Level Four partner. We match military veteran volunteers with hospice patients for companionship and host pinning ceremonies to recognize service.
- Music Therapy, Pet Visits, Aromatherapy, Virtual Reality Experiences – Additional offerings that create joyful, peaceful moments.
Where We Serve
Hillcrest Hospice serves patients over age 19 in Nebraska’s Douglas, Sarpy, Cass, Saunders, Washington, Dodge, Lancaster and Otoe Counties and, in Iowa, Pottawattamie, Mills and Harrison Counties. Our services are covered by Medicare, Medicaid and most private insurance. We help families navigate coverage and admissions quickly—often within three hours of physician order.
